


Postpartum Care
After your birth, we want to support the whole family through the adjustment of welcoming their new baby. Midwives can provide postpartum care for the mother up to 8 weeks. We will see you in your home within 48 hours of your birth, 1 week, 3 weeks, and 6-8 weeks postpartum. Additional visits can be arranged for extra support and educational purposes.
Maternal postpartum visits will include:

Assessment of physical recovery

Breastfeeding encouragement, advice, and support

Monitoring of emotional well-being

Processing and discussing your birth experience with you

Family planning counseling
-
Routine laboratory and pap tests, as needed
Midwives can provide newborn care up to 8 weeks following the birth. We will come to your home within 48 hours of the birth, 1 week, 3 weeks and 6-8 weeks postpartum. We recommend continued care be followed by a pediatrician.
Newborn visits will include:

Breastfeeding support and proper latch technique

Continued monitoring of vitals, weight loss/gain, and jaundice

Assessment of tongue and lip ties and referrals as needed

Newborn metabolic screening within 48 hours

Newborn Hearing screen
-
Critical Congenital Heart Defect (CCHD) screening performed with a pulse oximeter
